The Spa at The Hotel at the University of Maryland Launches “Quiet Care Initiative” to Support Caregivers of Critically Ill Children

College Park, MD — The Spa at The Hotel at the University of Maryland is excited to introduce its new Quiet Care Initiative, a community-focused program designed to provide moments of rest and restoration for caregivers of critically ill children.

Launching this May, the initiative reflects The Spa’s core belief that its wellness treatments should extend into the community, especially for those who spend their days caring for others. In partnership with Casey Cares Foundation, the Quiet Care Initiative will offer one complimentary spa service each month to a selected caregiver. Eligible participants include parents, guardians, and family members supporting children with serious or life-threatening conditions.

“Caregivers are constantly giving of themselves, often without pause,” said Spa Director Shanna Wisniewski. “This initiative is about creating space for them to simply breathe, reset, and feel cared for, even if it’s only for a moment.”

Each selected participant will have the opportunity to choose from a signature spa service, including a facial, massage, or pedicure, providing a personalized experience. Through its outreach process, Casey Cares will identify and coordinate participants on a monthly basis, ensuring the program reaches those who can benefit most while maintaining privacy and sensitivity.

The Quiet Care Initiative will run through the end of 2026, with both organizations planning to evaluate its impact and explore opportunities for continued support in the future. By combining wellness with meaningful community partnership, The Spa at The Hotel at The University of Maryland aims to offer more than relaxation; it offers permission to pause and truly care for yourself.
