Doyle Bar Debuts New Den of Cards Cocktail Menu
Washington, DC – Doyle Bar, the sleek, mid-century inspired cocktail bar located inside the esteemed Dupont Circle Hotel (1500 New Hampshire Ave NW), is excited to announce the launch of its new seasonal cocktail menu: Den of Cards. The new menu features a collection of inventive cocktails designed to evoke the warmth, ritual, and connection of winter gatherings. Inspired by intimate evenings spent indoors playing cards and creating memories with family and friends, the menu blends elevated mixology with familiar comfort.
Doyle Bar’s General Manager, Chrissy Sheffey, and the entire team set out to pair innovative techniques with seasonal flavors to create a truly memorable guest experience. “Naming this menu Den of Cards immerses our guests into a familiar scene. They are transported to a warm home where winter evenings are spent indoors, unhurried, and surrounded by people they enjoy,” said Chrissy.
Each cocktail on the Den of Cards menu tells its own unique story, with several highlighting seasonal ingredients and fun twists. S’more Decks is a playful, yet technically impressive, ode to childhood holiday traditions. House-made Maker’s Mark marshmallows (which were infused, toasted, and perfected through much trial and error) bring warmth, sweetness, and nostalgia to the palette. The team considers it the heart of the menu. Absent of Hearts is the cocktail that best embodies Doyle Bar; it balances elegance and boldness with a blend of bourbon, fig jam, honey, absinthe, and citrus. Queen of Clovers is a gin cocktail enriched with apple tea and caramel, referencing candied apples of fall festivals, with the tea infusion adding both depth and structure. Four of a Kind features fresh pear and rosemary, leaning into classic fall and winter aromatics. Smoke Stack combines apple cider and ginger to bring true autumnal character to this warming cocktail, served in a mug for guests to wrap their hands around and warm up with.
Den of Cards proudly showcases the bar team’s most creative processes yet, from tea-infused spirits to scratch-made confections. The experimentation led to many flavor breakthroughs, including the discovery that a touch of saline transformed the muddled-grape cocktail Runner, Runner. The Gambit stands out as one of the menu’s most astonishing additions. Made with beet, gin, Aperol, Yellow Chartreuse, and lavender bitters, the flavor is unexpectedly balanced and elegant, making it the drink guests order once on a whim, but return to for a second round. Just like its name, it’s a strategic risk that pays off beautifully.
In addition to the menu’s featured cocktails, Den of Cards also introduces a new Dealer’s Choice experience. Guests can place their trust in the bartender for a one-of-a-kind creation tailored to their preferences, providing an interactive moment that channels the strategy of a great card game. Since no two Dealer’s Choice cocktails will be exactly alike, regulars and newcomers alike will have a reason to continue exploring beyond the menu.
Den of Cards is now available to enjoy at Doyle Bar, located at 1500 New Hampshire Ave NW in Washington, DC. The full menu can be viewed HERE. Photos can be viewed HERE. Reservations and walk-ins are welcome.
