Anime NYC Returns to New York City

New York, NY (September 4, 2019) Anime NYC powered by Crunchyroll will return to theJavits Center (655 W 34th Street, Manhattan) from Friday, November 15 through Sunday, November 172019 with over 40,000 attendees for the most expansive and diverse celebration of anime and Japanese culture on the East coast. 

Yoshiyuki Tomino, director and creator of Gundam, will make his only U.S. appearance to commemorate the 40th anniversary of one of Japan’s most revered and influential anime franchises. Mr. Tomino will appear at Anime NYC, accessible to both fans and media, during panel discussions, autograph sessions, and special events. The anniversary festivities will celebrate the fictional world that has become one of the highest grossing multimedia franchises in the world, reaching a popularity similar to the likes of Mickey Mouse, Barbie, and Star Wars. 

The Gundam franchise spans more than 20 television series, 10 movies, and 500 million Gundam toys sold. In 2018, Legendary Entertainment, the studio behind Godzilla and Pacific Rim, announced they will be developing a live-action Gundam film.

Anime NYC is also thrilled to welcome Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi, the creators of the popular manga Dr. STONEas headliner guests of New York’s largest anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture convention. Dr. STONE is currently airing on Cartoon Network and has been the biggest anime and manga of the summer. 

Influential Japanese record label Lantis will bring their popular Lantis Matsuri concert to Anime NYC for the first time to celebrate the label's 20th Anniversary. The lineup will feature popular anime song or “anisong” performers JAM Project, TRUE, ZAQ, and Guilty Kiss from Love Live! Sunshine!! Aqours! The “anisong” celebration will take place in the Special Events Hall of the Javits Center. A separate ticket is required for the Lantis Matsuri event. Pokémon fans can also catch them all with a chance to meet the voices of Ash, Jessie, James, Meowth, and the director of Pokémon Sun and Moon, Lisa Ortiz. Additionally, the cast of superhero anime My Hero Academia, including the voices of Deku and Bakugo, will be joining Anime NYC.

Making its final stop on their U.S. tour, global phenomenon Fate/Grand Order will bring featured guests from Japan, props from the game, and other activities that will immerse fans into the mobile app’s universe.

Anime NYC will announce additional guests from around the world throughout the fall, and attendees can look forward to the latest from sponsors, partners, and publishers including Crunchyroll, Animate, Aniplex of America, BANDAI NAMCO Arts, Funimation, GKIDS, HIDIVE, Kodansha Comics, Sentai Filmworks, Tokyo Otaku Mode, Vertical, VIZ Media, and Yen Press.
