Virginia Wine Month Starts Next Week!

Here’s a peek at what #TeamLRA will drink to celebrate Virginia Wine Month this October:

Linda’s Pick: Horton Vineyards Viognier 2017

Website Tasting Notes: Exotic honey and tropical fruit aromas jump from the glass. Full bodied, viscous mouthfeel. 95% Viognier, 5% Roussanne.

Anthony’s Pick: Chrysalis Vineyards 2015 Private Reserve Red

Website Tasting Notes: The opening impression is of leather, cloves and mint, with some brambleberry and black currant and a subtle spiciness. In the mouth there are notes of currants, mint, cocoa, with a touch of green peppercorns and some prunes.

Avery’s Pick: Barboursville Vineyard Cabernet Franc Reserve 2017

Website Tasting Notes: Dark garnet core, brilliant clarity in the glass. Intense, effusively luscious flavors of ripe red berries with caramelised notes of fig, cherry, and plum, elegantly woven together in barrel. Long-finishing and tannically vivid, yet with a remarkably soft palate.

Fazlin’s Pick: Mediterranean Cellars Cabernet Franc Reserve

Website Tasting Notes: Full-bodied, this Cabernet Franc has been aged for years in French Oak barrels. The fresh fruit bouquet is complemented by hints of plum, raspberry, violets, and spice on the palate. A wonderful accompaniment especially for meats and game.

Mikala’s Pick: Early Mountain Vineyards 2018 Rose

Website Tasting Notes: The pale, salmon color primes us for the strawberries, white peaches and floral aromas and flavors of this wine. The acidity brings a brightness to the fruit and the wine lingers with a pleasant citrus pith character.

Cathy’s Pick: Greenhill Winery & Vineyards 2018 Chardonnay

Website Tasting Notes: Surprisingly rich and 100% stainless steel fermented. This Chardonnay offers a bouquet of ripe pineapple and lemon zest on the nose with notes of white fruit and a hint of spice.

Kenia’s Pick: 2017 Rockbridge Vineyard Chardonnay

Website Tasting Notes: Bright crisp flavors, reminiscent of fresh apples. Nice minerality with a crisp dry finish. 92% stainless steel fermentation and 8% neutral oak fermentation.
