Takeaway: National Restaurant Association's 100th Anniversary


Have you heard it enough? The way to lose weight/prevent cancer/heart disease/diabetes is to eat healthy and exercise. When restaurants responded by adding healthy options to their menu,  they usually did not sell well.  Often the healthy items were removed or offered during a limited run.  But at the 100th anniversary of the NRA, “plant forward options” were everywhere at the show – from hot dogs and chorizo tacos to plant-based cold brew coffee frozen dessert and ice cream. And they all taste just like the real thing – texture as well as flavor. I witnessed the long, rock star lines at Impossible Foods, Beyond the Butcher and Beyond Beef.  It only took 100 years.  As soon as they make plant-based cheese puffs, it’s game – set – match.
