Cinco De Mayo Weekend in DC

Head to City Tap Penn Quarter this Sunday for a $7 shot and a beer special. The downtown watering hole will have Or Xata from The Bruery on draft and their huevos rancheros on special for the day.

Ivy City’s City Winery DC will celebrate Quatro de Mayo this year in lieu of the traditional Cinco de Mayo. Guests can choose from four different specials available this Saturday to try all that the urban winery has to offer. Offerings include margarita flights, buy three retail wines get the fourth free, buy three share plates get the fourth free, or bring three friends to their tasting bar and get the fourth tasting free.

Dirty Habit will offer Cinco de Mayo food and drink specials starting Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5. Chef Kyoo will be serving up globally inspired tacos including short rib tacos with braised short rib, kimchi, pickled radish and carrot, and crispy rice, and tuna tacos served in a crispy wonton shell with sushi rice, Peruvian red pepper sauce, wok-seared tuna, and mango pico de gallo. Also throughout the weekend, Beverage Manager Drew Hairston will be offering mezcal flights for guests looking to enjoy a special selection of the spirit and hear directly from Dirty Habit’s bar expert on the subtle differences in mezcal. There will be two flight options in the cleverly named “Flights to Oaxaca,” including:

The Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City's beverage director, Dewayne Wright, has crafted a special blood orange margarita for the holiday this made with fresh-squeezed blood orange juice, lime, Don Julio tequila, triple sec, and fresh mint. It will be featured both Saturday and Sunday.

Special for the Cinco de Mayo holiday, executive Chef Jenn Flynn has crafted a handmade Mole Poblano con Chocolate Sausage. The beef and pork mix is blended with a traditional mole poblano made a four chili blend, tomatoes, onions, garlic, plantains, spices and chocolate. The sausage is topped with roasted tomatillo salsa and served on a housemade pretzel roll.
