“We launched brunch service at our Rockville location a year ago and have received a great deal of positive feedback since then,” said General Manager John Donnelly. “We want to connect with our community by constantly providing new and inventive menu items.”

The new brunch selections at matchbox Rockville include the delicious New Orleans french toast covered with fresh strawberries, candied pecans and caramel rum syrup; the blt benedict consisting of an English muffin topped with maple-glazed pork belly, fried green tomatoes, poached eggs, hollandaise, arugula with a side of brunch potatoes; the peanut butter & banana waffle with thick cut bacon wedged in the middle and drizzled with maple syrup and the house-cured gravlox and eggs served on an herbed flatbread spread with herb cream cheese accompanied by mixed greens with citrus vinaigrette.

SPIRIT OF MOUNT VERNON UNDERGOES HALF MILLION DOLLAR RENOVATION

Washington, DC [April 10, 2012] — Entertainment Cruises’ specialty ship, the Spirit of Mount Vernon, is about to set sail once again after a half million dollar renovation. Out of the company’s four-ship fleet, this versatile boat cruises most frequently. Mainly utilized for excursions from the Southwest Waterfront to the home of George Washington, the boat also sails for student fieldtrips and is chartered for private events on any given day or night.

Built in 1989, this is by far the largest redesign The Spirit of Mount Vernon has undergone since its initial construction. In January 2012, the ship docked at Pier 4 in Southwest DC for a total overhaul by Flanders Construction to its lower galley and two interior dining decks, as well as a completely revamped outdoor observation deck with full bar, to enhance the overall cruise experience for guests. New items installed include carpeting, wall coverings, restrooms, bars, windows, dance floors, ceilings and wait stations. In addition, the second deck window seating area has been extended to increase opportunities for prime waterfront views during meals.

Now that the renovation is complete, the Spirit of Mount Vernon will restart its narrated trips to Mount Vernon with options including full day trips, one-way cruises and 40-minute photo sightseeing cruises from the Mount Vernon Dock. For all tours, group reservations for 20 or more can be made at (866) 211-3811, and parties of 1-19 passengers can reserve online or at (866) 302-2469.

A roundtrip day tour cruise includes roundtrip fare and discounted admission at Mount Vernon with three hours to tour the estate. Boarding begins at 8:00am, departing at 8:30am and arriving at Mount Vernon at 10:00am. Returning departure time is 1:30pm, arriving at the Southwest Waterfront at 3:00pm. A full snack bar is available on board, and groups of 20 or more can pre-order a boxed meal.

One-way cruises take passengers to or from Mount Vernon so they can tour the estate. The flexibility of a one-way cruise lets passengers combine other activities with the narrated Potomac River tour. 40-minute turn-around photo and sightseeing cruises are perfect for a break from a trip to Mount Vernon. The cruises leave at 10:30am, 11:30am, and 12:30pm.

For the 2012 season, the Spirit of Mount Vernon will sail Tuesdays through Sundays until August 19 and again Fridays through Sundays August 24 – October 21. Find more information about the unique vessel online.

On Saturday, April 14 and April 28, guests aboard the Spirit of Washington will be treated to a bountiful lunch buffet amidst exciting and uplifting gospel music. Invited to board at 11:00 am, guests will cruise from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm. Prices start at $49.90 per adult* and $29.95 per child age 3-12*. On April 14, Entertainment Cruises welcomes special guest Kevin Terry and Predestined as featured entertainment. On April 28, the cruise departs later in the afternoon, boarding at 3:30 pm and sailing from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Dates for the rest of the season include May 12 & 19, June 2 & 9, July 14 & 21, August 11 & 25, September 8 & 22, October 6 & 20 and November 3.
