“Take Me Out to the Ballgame” Cruise

Provides Game Transportation to Nationals Park

Washington, DC [July 19, 2010] — Take your family to the ballpark in style, by cruising on the Capital Elite to a Washington Nationals game! Throughout the month of August, the “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” cruise offers one-way transportation for guests attending the Sunday afternoon Washington Nationals games.

Summer is Sizzling at Morton’s

New Menu Items Introduced

Washington, D.C. (July 6, 2010)—Morton’s The Steakhouse is firing things up this summer with new menu items sure to please any palate.  The updated menu features new steaks and sides, fresh fish, desserts, and tasty additions to the popular Bar Bites menu available only at the bar.

Morton’s signature USDA Prime steaks have always been available in a variety of cuts, but Morton’s is excited to offer two new filets – the Double Cut Filet ($45.00), and the Bone-In Filet ($56.00), both thick cuts of lean filet, seared to temperature, served with Bearnaise sauce on the side, and absolutely bursting with flavor.

The Bar Bites menu is available anytime at Morton’s bar, offering a variety of small plates designed to share.  But during Power Hour (Monday through Friday – 4:00pm to 6:30pm; 9:30pm to 11:00pm) all the Bar Bites items are discounted offering the perfect chance to try a mix from the land or the sea.  This summer Morton’s is introducing several new items from under the sea including a Smoked Salmon Pizza ($6.00 during Power Hour; $13.00 regularly), one of the most popular recipes featured in co-founder Klaus Fritsch’s “Morton’s The Cookbook” released late last year.  Layers of smoked salmon are studded with capers and chopped purple onion, mixed with dill and sour cream and served on a warm oven baked crust.  Also new are miniature Crab Cake BLTs ($6.00 during Power Hour; $14.00 regularly).  The trio of sandwiches is served on mini burger buns with mustard mayonnaise and topped with lettuce, tomato and crispy bacon.

Swimming onto the dinner menu is a decadent broiled Chilean Sea Bass ($39.00), served as an entrée with tangy pineapple-pepper salsa.

Sides at Morton’s are designed for sharing too – plated as hearty portions and served family style.  As a response to growing customer demand, Morton’s has added Onion RingsSteak Fries ($9.00 as a side) have become the new standard, replacing the smaller version which previously accompanied a variety of entrées and sandwiches. ($10.00) to the roster of classic American favorites.  The crispy rings are cut to a medium thickness and served with ketchup and Thai cream sauce.  Additionally, Steak Fries ($9.00 as a side) have become a the new standard, replacing the smaller version which previously accompanied a variety of entrées and sandwiches.

And for a perfect end to a perfect meal, Morton’s is now offering the Legendary Sundae ($16.00).  This sundae earns its name from the mouthwatering piece of Morton’s Hot Chocolate Cake served over two scoops of Häagen-Dazs Vanilla Ice Cream, sandwiched by a third scoop on top, topped with caramel and fresh whipped cream.

MERZI TO OPEN IN PENN QUARTER EARLY THIS SUMMER

Fast casual concept serves new take on classic Indian dishes

Washington, DC [May 21, 2010] – Merzi will begin serving a new take on quick, healthy, flavorful Indian cuisine early this summer.  The “food revolution” starts at Merzi’s debut location in Penn Quarter at 415 7th Street, NW.

Merzi, which means “choice,” offers new interpretations of classic Indian flavors in a contemporary setting, includes its signature, Tandisserie™ Chicken – Tandoori-seasoned chicken cooked rotisserie style.

Born in England, Merzi founder and CEO, Qaiser (Kaz) Kazmi, has lived in the United States since 1997.  He chose to leave a career in optical network technology to pursue his culinary vision.  Kaz spent over a year working with chefs to fine-tune recipes that feature high-quality ingredients spiced to perfection, bringing customers delicious food at a great value.

Orders at Merzi are built from either a soft, oven-baked Naan Roll, filled with a choice of meat and vegetables; a Rice Bowl with long-grain fragrant Basmati rice; Salad with crisp Romaine lettuce, or Chaat, an aromatic blend of onions, peppers, corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, and chickpeas, topped with a lightly sweetened yogurt sauce and tangy tamarind date chutney.  Guests have a choice (thus the name, Merzi) to dine vegetarian or add proteins such as Tandisserie™ Chicken, braised shredded slow-cooked beef, marinated grilled lamb, or juicy grilled shrimp to their meal.

Sauces and extras are offered to enhance dishes.  Warm sauces include Hot Tomato Masala, a rich blend of fiery chilies and traditional Indian spices combined with herbs; Medium Tikka Masala, delectable herbs and spices cooked in a creamy sauce; and Mild Makanni, commonly known as butter chicken, with a complex mixture of spices, herbs, and yogurt.  Cold sauces include Herb Mint, Serrano chilies chopped and mixed with fresh herbs, mint and seasonings; Chile Spice, red chilies crushed and combined with fresh herbs and tomatoes; and Imli, an addictively sweet and tangy chutney made of pulped tamarind and dates, infused with select seasonings.  Side dishes include sweet corn in a cup, samosas, and naan.

Unique beverages offered include the Mango Yogurt Juice, a refreshing, slightly sweetened drink made of mangoes, whole milk, and probiotic yogurt; and Faloodalicious Drink, a distinctive mix of nuts, raisins, and jello in a low-fat milkshake.

Merzi will seat 49 and will be open from 11:00am – 10:00pm daily.  Kaz and his partners plan to expand the concept to multiple locations in the greater DC metropolitan area over the next few years.

La Palina Cigars Re-Launched

Founder’s Grandson Reveals Remarkable History and Taste

Washington, DC (May 17, 2010)—In June 2010 William C. (Bill) Paley will re-launch La Palina, a storied cigar brand famously linked to the early and fortuitous beginnings of CBS Broadcasting, originally founded by Bill’s father, William S. Paley.  The brand debuts with the introduction of the “1896” Limited Edition cigar, fittingly dedicated to Paley’s grandfather, Samuel Paley, who founded the Congress Cigar Company in 1896.  It was William S. Paley’s interest in promoting La Palina through the use of radio advertising that led him to the broadcasting business.

La Palina literally translates to “The Paley Lady” and was named for Sam’s wife, Goldie Drell Paley.  Also the company’s most fashionable brand, La Palina was popularized by the image of Goldie in Spanish costume on the interior and exterior of the box.  “With the revival of La Palina, a family tradition continues,” said Bill Paley, who sought to create a superb cigar to offer his guests at Lightbourne House, the family compound on Nassau in the Bahamas.

La Palina premium handmade cigars are a marriage of the finest tobacco leaves, aged, fermented, selected and blended by master artisans.  The “1896” Limited Edition is a blend of Nicaraguan and Honduran tobacco with an Ecuadorian wrapper and a Costa Rican binder.  The first “1896” to be introduced is the “Sam” signature cigar (4.75 inch; 52 gauge) which retails for $19 per cigar or $190 for a box of 10.

The Family Series will be introduced later this year consisting of four cigar formats to include:

• The “Pasha” – a tribute to Bill’s father, William S. Paley.  Though known as “The Chairman” at work, he was jokingly known as “Pasha” at home (7.25 inch; 50 gauge; unfinished foot);
• The “Babe” – dedicated to Bill’s mother Babe Paley, a noted fashion icon, socialite and inductee to the Best Dressed Hall of Fame (5.25 inch; 50 gauge);
• The “Alison” is dedicated to Bill’s wife Alison VanMetre Paley whose support and encouragement made the La Palina revival possible (6.5 inch torpedo; 52 gauge);
• The “Little Bill” is named for Bill Paley as it was the name used to distinguish him from his father (4.5 inch; 52 gauge).
